After living in our home for twenty years, it was time for an update. Rather than leave our quiet cul-de-sac neighborhood, we contemplated the idea of an expansion, renovation and remodel from roof to basement, especially of the areas in our home that we use the most; the kitchen, dining room and den. Expanding these areas would give us much more livable space and enable us to have a first floor laundry room as well. Since we were going to be under construction anyway, we also decided to add a larger second floor master bath above the dining room and to reconfigure closets, an existing office, a finished basement and add excavated storage. New rooms, roofing systems, paint, fixtures, flooring, wainscoting, decking and design details have given us a completely new, updated, and comfortable home within our budget.
JL Swope Construction was recommended to us by a friend who recently had a new home constructed. Upon meeting with owner Jeff Swope, we were immediately impressed with his keen business sense, knowledge and experience, but even more so with his integrity! It became very apparent that everyone working within JL Swope Construction shared the same values of honesty, integrity, hard work and attention to detail. These business practices were envisioned, initiated and perpetuated by Jeff Swope and became the cornerstone of his business.
At the business office, Julie is extremely knowledgeable in design aspects and is very helpful with space planning and selection of materials. It was comforting to have her accompany us to plan layouts and select cabinetry. As a liaison, she kept in constant communication with us during the project, fielding questions, problem solving, scheduling and returning calls promptly.
Also of great comfort was that every subcontractor is hired personally by Jeff and these same contractors work for him on a continuing basis. We could count on seeing the same crews over and over again and that they knew exactly what was scheduled in our home on any given day. Since we continued living in our home during construction, we interacted with the crews daily. They, as well as Jeff and Julie became like a part of our family. Everyone was always friendly, respectful, courteous, punctual and neat. The indoor construction areas were tidied and swept on a daily basis and any sawdust or debris outdoors was even removed from our sidewalks! Leaving to run errands or taking day trips was never a concern as our house was always in good hands. Upon our return we found our home tidy, locked and ready for the evening.
Working with JL Swope Construction was a pleasure from beginning to end. Jeff Swope and company went above and beyond what we ever expected and our addition and renovations are beautiful, seamless and in keeping with the style of our home. We would highly recommend JL Swope Construction to anyone considering building an new home, planning an addition, expansion or renovation.
